It's the little things in life that we often take for granted. Sometimes we are looking for the BIG things that we completely miss what is right in front of us. Today I had the opportunity to cuddle with my baby for slightly longer than twelve seconds. He grabbed my hands and put them on either side of his face. Then he closed his eyes and smiled. It's moments like this that I want to go on forever...then the dogs started barking and it was all over.
Yesterday was a big day. Huge day. We had so much to celebrate. My daughter was "The Flyer" at Cheer Camp. She was so excited. She is a brand new cheerleader and to start off by being hoisted onto the shoulders of girls barely able to accommodate her 65.5 pounds was exhilarating for her. I was scared to death, but I was so proud of her. Our celebration continued when we were able to celebrate the 3rd and 5th birthdays of our cousins. It was fantastic to spend some time with the fam. We attended the wedding of our friends. It was a beautiful ceremony that completely left me in tears of happiness. And finally, we celebrated the birth of the newest addition to our family, a beautiful baby boy who is loved by everyone who knows him.
Those are the big things. It wasn't hard to find the joy in yesterday. Tomorrow may be more challenging. I may be bombarded by phone calls, dirty diapers, barking dogs, and fighting kids. But, in spite of what happens, I will close my eyes, see my children's faces, feel the warmth of their skin, and know that I have a lot to celebrate.
